1. Who We Are
Wonder Journalist (“we”, “us”, “our”) operates the wonderjournalist.com website and related services. We are the data controller for the personal data described in this policy. Questions or requests can be directed to daniel@wonderjournalist.com.
2. Information We Collect
Account information
Name, email address, and profile details collected when you sign up via our authentication provider (Clerk). We store a copy in our own database to link your account to your content.
Media and document uploads
Audio files you upload are stored in Cloudflare R2 and sent to Deepgram for transcription. Documents are normally read on our servers. If a PDF is scanned, mixed, or cannot be read locally, the full PDF is sent to our configured third-party AI model provider for text extraction. Extracted document text, transcripts, and generated content are stored in our database and linked to your account.
Usage data
We collect anonymised product analytics (page views, feature interactions) via PostHog to understand how the Service is used and improve it.
Payment data
Billing and payment information is collected and stored by Lemon Squeezy (our Merchant of Record). We do not store credit card numbers or full payment details.
3. How We Use Your Data
- To provide and operate the Service (transcription, article generation, social content)
- To manage your account, subscriptions, and billing
- To communicate with you about your account, updates, and support
- To improve the Service through anonymised analytics
- To comply with legal obligations
We do not sell your personal data or use your User Content to train our own AI models. AI sub-processors handle content under their own service terms and our configured account controls, as described below.
4. Third-Party Services
We share data with the following sub-processors only to the extent necessary to deliver the Service:

We request stateless AI processing where the provider supports it. This does not necessarily eliminate limited retention for security, abuse monitoring, reliability, or legal obligations. Microsoft documents its Azure OpenAI data handling and abuse monitoring controls here, and Google documents Gemini API logging and sharing controls here. Do not upload confidential or regulated documents unless your organization has approved processing by the applicable provider.
5. Data Retention
We retain your account data and User Content for as long as your account is active or until you delete it, subject to backup, security, and legal retention requirements. Third-party providers may retain request data for the limited purposes and periods described in their terms and configured account settings. You may request deletion of your account and associated data at any time by contacting us.
6. Your Rights
Depending on your location, you may have the right to access, correct, delete, or port your personal data, and to object to or restrict certain processing. To exercise any of these rights, contact us at daniel@wonderjournalist.com. We will respond within 30 days.
7. Cookies
We use cookies and similar technologies for authentication (session cookies managed by Clerk) and analytics (PostHog). No advertising cookies are used. You can configure your browser to refuse cookies, though this may affect Service functionality.
8. Children's Privacy
The Service is not directed at children under 16. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children. If you believe a child has provided us with data, please contact us and we will delete it promptly.
9. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy periodically. Material changes will be communicated by email or via a notice in the Service. Continued use of the Service after the effective date constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
